  A beautiful country house tucked away in the North Devon countryside. The team at Devon Catering have catered for many weddings, parties and events at Buckland House.

  This is a beautiful old house with extensive grounds including a boating lake, woodland and church. This is the second time we have gone to stay as an extended family group and on balance we have had a great time. There are large lawns for games and a swimming pool and we were able to have a lovely time because of the hot sunny weather. There is also a games room with table tennis table, pool and billiards, There are some beautiful rooms which include lovely pieces of furniture and decorative features.
  On the minus side, for a self-catering group, the kitchen could be better equipped. Some of the devices are old and/or only half working. There is a random selection of mainly very large cooking pots and baking trays. The oven is temperamental and difficult to control. The coffee pots are broken. The coffee machines look unappealing. But worse than all of this are the flies and the lack of rubbish bins. Although there are recycling bins outside it would be helpful to have something more advanced than a single bin with limited bin liners inside too.
  Another unnerving thing were the bats - inside the building!! On the first night there were two flying around inside the house. On the last night we had two flying around our bedroom at dawn. Not everyones' cup of tea!
  It's a fab place though and definitely an experience worth having. The owners are lovely and not too precious (surprisingly) in the circumstances.
